Wassup Mainer Mike, you around? There's a moose with its very own thread. And video. Really! Not kidding. Video of an angry moose, right here on TNCR. From Maine of course. And it was all for you, so hope you can find it (the moose topic, I mean, not Maine, you're there so, well, duh, you know that and all).

@xenon said in Thought Experiment-Biden as President: If there was somehow a way to get data on all the drivers of the economy (or let's say the top 100) - you could run a regression on that data. My view is similar to TG's - what you'd see is that the President is a non-zero coefficient, but other things like tech progress, size and health of global markets, earnings of domestic firms, etc., etc. - would dwarf any direct actions from the President. Now you can see in the long arc of history the government sets the rules of the game (patent law, anti-trust law, regulations, etc., etc.) and the President has influence there - but those sort of changes have an effect on a scale of decades and even centuries. In times of crises, the President's coefficient get's a lot bigger. But if you were to make that equation, and look at the coefficient on Presidential actions - it wouldn't be accurate to say things like "Trump's economy" or "Obama's economy" Maybe their coefficient is greater than any other single person - or maybe the Steve Jobs of the world beat them in some years. Thank you Xenon. You said it better than I ever could.

@Horace said in "Not my instrument": Another example from sports is the Patriots, who have to adjust to the real rules every away game. It’s such a seismic shift from video/audio of the opponent sideline and huddles, deflated balls, and totally fraudulent officiating. It shows great adaptability. I know even less about baseball.

Solar ovens work ok, given the right circumstances, but even in poor countries most people don't use them...

It's an interesting look into human nature. Discrimination of one sort or another will always be with us.

Over the years, my wife has worn two of those. Still wears one of them. BTW, Chanel No.5 is not nearly as good as Coco, Coco Chanel's personal fragrance...

Best Copper Birthday Cake Ever. My daughter and her English teacher pals assigned each other teacher an Animal Farm animal. They were the chickens. It was remarkably astute.

Found this: "They are Ghana's dancing pallbearers, a crew of funeral performers who have long sought to make mourners grin through grief." Okay, I can dig that. I don't hate them anymore.

@jon-nyc said in Can anyone explain the 19?: This reminds me Rush Limbaugh once said the coronavirus is the common cold and we get coronaviruses every year, he went on to say this was the 19th coronavirus hence the name. I think that was about the time the only First Lady who’s tits I’ve seen gave him a medal. Good thing Michael Michelle didn't give him a medal then because I do t think (s)he had that part of the operation done.
